Marcus joined AFC Bournemouth on the eve of the 2002/03 season after being
released by Gillingham.
O'Driscoll certainly plumped for experience when he signed Marcus up for a
spell at Dean Court. The Bristol born midfielder has made more than 300 appearances
for Bristol Rovers, Huddersfield and the Gills and attracted £700,000
in transfer fees since his debut for Rovers in '89.
Marcus had been a regular in the first team of Gillingham the year before
but the financial crisis facing the game meant that he found himself released
on a free when his contract ran out. Luckily for us, Marcus moved south after
turning out in a friendly against Brighton during pre-season.
Solid player who commands the pitch very well, and certainly a welcome and
much needed addition to the AFC Bournemouth squad.
